Megaquest 2.2.0 - New old enemies



This update is a very special one! Let's jump straight to the highlights!

  • NEW ENEMY ART by Calciumtrice! He offered to create new overworld animations and combat sprites for all enemies! You can find him at https://twitter.com/calciumtrice (he's generally open for commissions 😉)
  • NEW ENEMY! Sudd N. Death's elegant style will literally blow your mind if you're not quick enough! That's right - it's a fight with a time limit!
    • In case you need more time, you can open "Dicey Dungeons/mods/megaquest/data/text/mqoptions.txt" in a CSV editor (or a text editor, if you prefer) and add up to 99 extra minutes by editing the first value under the "value". Sudd N. Death's rule change involves a time limit as well. The options file includes a field to add extra time to the rule change.
  • NEW ENEMY LOADOUTS! Level 1-4 enemies (and their super versions) now have completely new equipment! Their equipment is now compatible with all characters so they're unbanned from most episodes!
  • NEW WITCH EPISODE 3! Blast from the Past - your last used spell is activated for free, but it's cast both at the enemy and at you!
  • NEW WITCH EPISODE 4! Telekinetic Powers - spells are arranged in a circle, some spells are better when they are in a specific position of the circle and you can spin them up to 2 times to change their position!
  • BONUS RULES REVISION! Lots of rules got reworked to be less run-ending! Also, most rules now should affect both you and the enemies!
  • EPISODE 5 REVISION! The floor generation was improved to make the episode more balanced. Unfortunately, the "Guild" rule change was removed :( Oh, speaking of rule changes, now you get 6 bonus rules in this episode!
  • EPISODE 6 REVISION! Enemy loadouts were changed to fit the contestant character playstyles!
  • NEW FLOOR LAYOUTS! To add a little bit of variety to your runs ;)
  • Thief Episode 2 tweaked! Now you and the enemy trade always only one item each fight (instead of a chance of trading one big item for two small items), but if the item you got is too big for your inventory, you can delete one of your excess items at will!
  • Robot Episode 3 tweaked! You lose 1 CPU every other level up so you end up with 7 CPU at max level instead of 3!
  • Inventor Episode 2 tweaked! You find a lot less equipment and you scrap only one item.
  • Witch Episode 2 tweaked! Choose which spell will get destroyed after the battle!
  • Starting Wild Deck generation tweaked! Your initial deck shouldn't be super restrictive now!
  • Russian localization pass (in collaboration with Neypah_Tit)!

Full changelog:

  • Improved the deck generation for the 4th episode of the 6th character to make it not rely on RNG (start with 4x of a random unrestricted slot weapon, 3x of another unrestricted slot weapon and 2x of a random shield. Starting cards can't have a countdown higher than 8 and can't be reuseable, boosterpack cards can't be reuseable)
  • Warmup+ now burns both dice if it outputs two dice
  • Copycat rule was changed to "Status effects switch targets on each equipment use"
  • Inventor now starts with Flat Blade (do damage, reactivate gadget on 1, MAX4) in Episode 3
  • Reduced the amount of chests in Inventor Episode 3
  • The gadget now changes to Broken Gadget after each fight in Inventor Episode 3
  • Rhino Beetle rule now accounts for shield
  • Made Rocket Rider rule description clearer
  • Made Finger Guns and Quartz Weapon descriptions consistent with other DOUBLES weapons
  • Episode 6 Robot enemy now rolls dice using a calculation panel, can jackpot and has a chance to error when blinded
  • Episode 6 Inventor now automatically activates her gadget
  • Episode 6 Witch now uses a spellbook to cast spells when no other options are present
  • Episode 6 6th character now draws cards from a deck and discards matching cards if they don't get used in 2 turns
  • Enemy death in Episode 6 now works better (unfortunately, this created a bug where 6th character's deck doesn't scroll properly)
  • Ultimate Spell is now affected by Fury
  • The AI now prefers to use the Rapier with odd dice
  • Rhino Beetle rule now works in real time instead of doing health checks on equipment usage
  • Converted all real-time effects to new actuator tech, which fixes a bug with Turbine and similar equipment getting triggered every frame
  • Reduced the file size
  • Added a visual status indicator when Bonk can deal double damage
  • Added vanilla Russian localization fixes (huge thanks to Neypah_Tit for collaboration!)
  • Added _deckupgrade versions of Trashcannon, Mud Launcher, Afterburner, Throwing Axe, Knife Blank and Helmet
  • Added a shield sound effect to Lantern Shield
  • Added a damage sound effect to Chargin' Targe
  • Added Reduce By to Sorceress rule change status pool
  • Added proper battle VFX offsets to custom enemies
  • Added a delay between dice throwing and dice rolling for Megaflick equipment
  • Added 12 new floor layouts (4 tiny, 4 small and 4 normal)
  • Added first words for Kompuutah
  • Removed Electrocution spell due to being too complicated and boring
  • Removed Refined Metal from Inventor Episode 3
  • Removed Robobot and Snek rules from Robot as they don't currently work with them
  • Removed Keymaster rule when lock-inflicting enemies are present
  • Removed Side Project gadget
  • Removed upgraded spell slots from Witch Episode 6
  • Removed 6th character backup card from 6th character Episode 6 chests 
  • Removed the following gadgets: Side Project, Spiked Band, Stab, Two More Rolls (which now exists in the base game)
  • Removed the following equipment: Bomb!, Coinflip, Timebomb, Impending Doom, Radio Transmitter, Cluster Grenade
  • Removed the Re-equip Next bonus from Gold Rush boss skillcard
  • Removed Drake from Thief Episode 2
  • Changed level 1-4 enemy loadouts, also added super loadouts to most bosses
  • Changed Episode 6 Warrior, Robot, Inventor, Witch and Jester fighter loadouts
  • Changed Episode 6 starting health to 100 HP and heal on kill to 50 HP
  • Changed Sorceress, Drake, Beatrice, Gargoyle and Crystalina rules to affect both fighters
  • Changed Scathach rule to "everyone starts with 1 dice"
  • Changed Dire Wolf rule to "your equipment gets replaced with enemy equipment on the first turn"

  • Changed Shield Bash level up reward in Warrior Episode 1 to Bunker (gain 2xX shield, 4x on critical health, requires doubles)
  • Changed Barbed Wire level up reward in Warrior Episode 2 to Armor Shard (gain X thorns, MAX4)
  • Changed weakened Rapier to normal slot, can't be re-equipped
  • Changed Jammed Cannon to a weapon that has two normal slots and deals X damage, but you take damage equal to the value of the dice in the first slot
    • New item, Rusty Cannon, now inherits the old Jammed Cannon effect. Can be acquired from the Ancient Lockbox
  • Changed Robot Episode 2 starting weapon to Sword
  • Changed Mystic Sword to "Do X damage, run custom script on 6", made it super rare
  • Changed Ancient Lockbox to give equipment with old effects. The current pool is "Rusty Key", "Rusty Knife" and "Rusty Cannon"
    • The upgraded version gives equipment that is rare or can't be found in any of the episodes
  • Changed Fangs upgrade to be "+1 damage" instead of "slots take odd"
  • Buffed Bonk to size 1
  • Buffed Pew return chance to 33%, Pew+ now has 66% chance
  • Buffed Wolf Puppy rule to charge your limit break with self-damage
  • Buffed Magician rule to also affect enemies
  • Buffed Rescue Ranger upgrade to reduce countdown instead of +1 damage
  • Buffed Flame and Frost Bow upgrades to reduce countdown instead of +1 use
  • Buffed Special Attack to countdown 7
  • Buffed Witch Episode 4 starting health to 30
  • Buffed Witch Episode 6 starting prepared slots to 4
  • Buffed weakened Magic Repeater to 3 damage
  • Buffed Knife Blank to even + free 1
  • Buffed Tension Tonic to charge Limit Break by 25% when not meeting the health threshold
  • Buffed Kompuutah's HP from 68 to 70
  • Nerfed Refined Metal to require a 5 to activate, also reduced Refined Metal drop frequency
  • Nerfed Hellsteel Sword free 2 slot to free 1
  • Nerfed Beatrice rule to 2 damage per shock instead of 3
  • Nerfed Sprinkler upgrade to RANGE24 -> MAX4 instead of RANGE24 -> MAX5
  • Nerfed Password+'s "lock 2 dice" to "lock 1 dice"
  • Nerfed Display to "+1 dice this fight, requires jackpot"
  • Nerfed Iron Stake to 15 countdown
  • Nerfed Fortress from 5 to 4 shield
  • Fixed 1st episode rule generator referring to Snek's old name
  • Fixed Warrior starting with one extra equipment in Episode 2
  • Fixed Dual Sword applying shock on execute instead of before execute
  • Fixed Robot starting with 13 CPU instead of 15 in Episode 6
  • Fixed wrong offsets on enemies in Episode 6
  • Fixed Weakpoint Detector, Rigged Roll and Ultimate Spell causing AI issues
  • Fixed equipment casting in wrong directions when used by enemies
  • Fixed some Russian localization issues
  • Fixed Satellite inflicting the blessing to the wrong target and not triggering "on error" effects
  • Fixed Harpoon being able to retrieve itself
  • Fixed the Repeater exploit where you could use it and then quickly trigger another item to make it affected by Fury
  • Fixed Rosepetals dealing 1 damage more than they should
  • Fixed Amplifier+ inflicting 1 weaken instead of 2
  • Fixed Randomizer not setting the random status before getting executed, also fixed Firewall not increasing item use count when stolen
    • These fixes allow Thief to steal and use Kompuutah's equipment without crashing, so now Kompuutah is unbanned from Thief's episodes
  • Fixed Thief-stolen Cursed Axe not self-inflicting Curse
    • This means that Lumberjack now appears in Thief episodes
  • Fixed Decoy casting forwards, increased countdown to 15
  • Fixed an issue with Credits entries having a weird offset on the Voiceovers/Megaquest page
  • Fixed an issue with wheel spin quotes being the same when Russian language is selected
  • Fixed Megaflick throwing the wrong amount of dice
